Mortgage Servicers Make Money Foreclosing On Your Home


The National Consumer Law Center found that it is "cheaper" for mortgage servicers to foreclose on a homeowner, than present a homeowner with a loan modification.  The servicer does not look out for what is best for the investor due to them having no connection to them. There are Monetary incentives for the servicers if they foreclose on a homeowners, rather than give a homeowner a loan modification.  If a homeowner receives a loan modification the services faces the possibility of loss due to the home being modified. The services receives profit when a homeowner is foreclosed on due to "no penalty."
